Kuozui Motors Ltd.
In the 1960s when the automobile industry led the development of the country, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of National Defense and the US's General Motors established a joint venture named “Huatung Motors Ltd.,” which was to become Kuozui Motors Ltd. today. After GM withdrew its investment in 1983, Hotai Motor, China Development Trust and Hino Motor jointly set up Kuozui Motors Ltd. in early 1984. After much hard work and struggle, the company gradually consolidated its position in the limited heavy vehicles market. With this consideration, and seeing the advantage presented to the development of the small vehicles market by the booming economy, Kuozui decided to bring in funds and technology from Toyota Japan for the production of sedans. Currently, Kuozui has two factories, the one in Chungli covering a ground area of 230,000m2 has a production capacity of 80,000 vehicles per year, and the other in Kuanyin covering a ground area of 330,000m2 has a production capacity of 30,000 vehicles per year.
